Episode 9 of The Sailing Podcast is with Pieter Kommerij of SV Onda Boa and Pieter is based on his catamaran cruising in Brazil. I caught up with Pieter on Skype and he was in Paranagua in the south of Brazil.
I haven’t heard many reports about what the sailing is like in South America so it was really interesting to catch up with someone who is actually cruising up and down the coast of Brazil.
There are some really good pointers about the local area in this interview – in particular some information about the available cruising guides and the fact that you probably don’t need to report to port authorities everywhere you go – as is reported in one of the guides.
Another amazing fact is that cruising in Brazil may be cheaper than what our Aussie friends said you can cruise in Indonesia for – so that means Brazil is good value – unless you need to find spare parts…
