Episode 10 of The Sailing Podcast is an interview with Pam Bitterman, author of “Sailing to the Far Horizon; The restless journey and tragic sinking of a Tall Ship.
When I got the opportunity to interview Pam Bitterman I jumped at the chance and not just because she has been a teacher of maritime history and seamanship but because she sailed on a tall ship for many years. About 3 decades after being a sailor, and as she raised her family she decided to write about her experiences and that is what we are talking about today – about a tall ship named Sofia, which sank off New Zealand’s North Island in February 1982.

I am really looking forward to reading this book and since recording I have seen that Sailing to the Far Horizon: The Restless Journey and Tragic Sinking of a Tall Ship is to be re-released in paperback and digital format this year so that will make it really easy to find online.
I mentioned joining the newsletter on last weeks interview with Pieter and that I hope to have some books to give away to listeners. I am going to go ahead with this and I will pass the details on through the newsletter so make sure that you sign up here to find out more.
